Sunday Social Runs

Generation Run organized Sunday Social Runs and Brunch will be posted on the ‘Gen Run Community Club’ Facebook page and will be emailed out to you also. Please reach out if you would like to be added to our email database. These are for all abilities! Please bring hydration and nutrition as required – if you are unsure please don’t hesitate to ask. On many trails normal running shoes are fine, trail shoes may be worn but are not compulsory. Stay tuned for weekly updates on times, locations, and distances for these runs.

Run Club

Social Run with The Running Company Lilydale’s ‘Run Club’! Meeting every Tuesday morning at the shop: 242 Main Street, Lilydale at 6:50AM for a 7.00AM start; our ‘Run Club’ is totally FREE and OPEN TO ALL!

Heading out from the shop for a social run at your own pace with plenty of running buddy chats to be had, covering around 4-7kms depending on your pace and (early morning energy!), we offer a terrific start to your day, friends, conversation, exercise, sunrise, and lovely local trails to explore. Please join us!

Personalised Training

Personalized Running Programs for Gen Run Squad Members are available from Coach Bec at a cost of $75.

I have always been adamant that I will only write programs for runners that I coach and see regularly. I do not write generic or online programs as I do not believe that this is ‘coaching’, and there is no better way to give yourself an injury than to follow someone else’s program! Writing programs takes time, a lot of it! In the past I have not charged members for programs, however I am becoming increasingly needed in this department and I want to be able to offer you all the best service possible.

All programs are tailored to the individual, built around individual lifestyles, daily routines, weekly training, and individual goals.

Depending on personal goals, training programs will generally be 8-12-week plans, and will include:

  • Supplementary strength / cross-training advice and workouts

  • In-depth spreadsheet outlining daily sessions: running, strength, cross-training, rest, and active recovery

  • Frequent communication in regard to training sessions, injuries, race planning, goal-setting etc

  • Initial one-on-one consult to go through all required information

  • The peace of mind in knowing that a qualified and experienced coach who knows you personally and as an athlete is guiding your training

  • Accountability and the assurance that your Gen Run Squad sessions will be relevant to your training goals

  • Referrals to recommended and trusted health care professionals who partner with Generation Run

Group Training

*NEW Service* Online Zoom Strength Sessions from home

Online Zoom Strength Sessions from home every Monday evening, every second Friday evening, and every Sunday afternoon.  

The ability for our runners to attend these strength sessions from the comfort of your own homes without having to get to a location on time, rush home from work, leave the kids with partners, family members or at home alone, and knowing that you can do these sessions in the warmth and dry has huge benefits for everyone!

Join Coach Bec from home for fully guided 60+minute varied ‘run-specific’ strength and conditioning training sessions including: mat-work, body weight strength, core and hip stability, fit-ball, resistance band, and light weight functional exercises, cardio/core combination classes, stretching, flexibility, relaxation, and more. Bec is a fully qualified Master Trainer PT and is currently adding to her accreditations as a student of The Pilates Centre, Boulder, USA under the mentorship, instruction and guidance of experienced Classical and Reformer Pilates Master Instructor Maggie McGill

The Cost? Gen Run Zoom Package! $120 for 12 weeks of Online Zoom Strength Sessions.

  • That’s 30 sessions @ $4 per session! Or, if you come to just 2 sessions per week, that equals $5 per session.
  • These sessions are 60+minutes in duration and are entirely accessible from home.
  • They are fully coached and adaptable to individual requirements and abilities.

During the warmer and lighter months, you also have the fun option of joining Coach Bec at Lilydale Lake for these sessions to be done outdoors under her guidance!

Outdoor Training

The Gen Run Squad meet for fully coached group training on weekdays; rain, hail or shine!

Sessions are interesting and varied and designed to cater for all levels of runners. Our members range from casual beginners to seasoned athletes with an array of ambitions; so, whatever your ability or training goals, you are guaranteed to get the most for yourself from every session.

All sessions are run under lights and in a safe environment. Head torches will be required in the darker months (generally from March – October)

Tuesday - 7.00am - (The Running Company Lilydale)

A FREE and social, early morning run, leaving from The Running Company Lilydale – 242 Main Street, Lilydale every Tuesday at 7.00am. Open to the whole community, all ages and abilities, at no cost. Run or walk as we take in the local Lilydale Lake and surrounds. Head torches required during late Autumn and Winter months.

Join the Squad for an interval, tempo or fartlek session at the lake. This session is suitable for all levels.

Wednesday - 6:15am (Croydon Athletics Track)

For the early risers, this track session offers a great start to the day with a quick spin of the legs as the sun rises. Focusing on technique, pace and speed endurance, you will enjoy your breakfast even more after this session.

Recreational Running training for juniors aged 7-13 years in a fun, supportive and non-competitive environment. Coaching for technique, coordination, fitness, team work and lots of fun!

Gen Run Community Club at Croydon Athletics Track
This fully coached, free, weekly Gen Run Community Club initiative; run in conjunction with the Maroondah City Council and in support of Oscars 100, is designed to keep the community moving and provides another fantastic opportunity for you to train under the watchful eye of the Gen Run Squad qualified coaches. All we ask for is a gold coin donation for our charity partners Oscars 100 – an organisation committed to improving the lives of children living with Autism.

Join us every Thursday evening for alternating Tempo/Time Trials/Speed work on the track. EVERYONE WELCOME!

Friday - 6:15am Fortnightly Rotation: Wk1 @ Lilydale Lake & Wk2 @ Morrisons Reserve Mt Evelyn

Not for the faint-hearted – this morning session finds our Squad running the hills before breakfast! With hill repeats, hill loops and hill running technique as the focus, Friday mornings are a sure way to develop gluteal strength and power, to improve speed and stamina on the flat. Flat running options are always available.

Saturday - 8am (Lilydale Lake in conjunction with Parkrun)

Non structured training
Saturday morning sessions are a free, in-coached, social run for all and sundry. Bring along friends and family, ride the bike, push the pram or walk/run the dog around the lake, participate in Parkrun or head out along the meandering Olinda Creek or Warburton Trails. Gen Runners training for distance events often use this session as part of their long run, with a social catch up for breakfast at a local café to follow.

Gen Run Juniors

“GEN RUN JUNIORS – Running for the next generation!”

The ‘Generation Run Junior Squad’ has been developed for children aged 7 – 13 years who have an interest in running on a recreational level. We offer 1 hour qualified coaching sessions for junior runners with a focus on fun, fitness, running technique and coordination, with the key intention of developing pathways to ongoing healthy habits, new friendships and the further progression into Athletics and Recreational Running.

Gen Run Junior Squad training commences at 4:30pm every Wednesday afternoon and is held at the Croydon Athletics Track, Norton Rd, Croydon, and on the surrounding ovals, grass areas and footpaths, unless otherwise specified.

Special 90 minute Sessions at Lilydale Lake are also run for juniors through the school holidays!

Training may be cancelled due to extreme weather (i.e.; extreme heat or electrical storms) at the coach’s discretion.

Gen Run Junior Squad membership will be due on week one of each calendar school term and will be charged on a term by term basis at a cost of:

  • $80 per child per term,
  • Or $70 per child per term if there are multiple children attending training from the same family.
