Generation Run Press Release!

To say I was thrilled to receive a call from Renee at Maroondah City Council inviting Generation Run to be the face of an article promoting their up-coming ‘Run Maroondah Fun Run Event’ in the council’s local paper is a massive understatement! Having only had the Gen Run Squad up and running for less than 2 months; the involvement, interest and enthusiasm we have received has been overwhelming and continues to grow as our current number of members draws ever closer to reaching the BIG 50! DSC_0811

On the day of the photo shoot, 10 of our members braved the chilly conditions to show off their Gen Run Squad training singlets and were rewarded with some Spring sunshine to keep them warm as they ran back and forth across the oval as the photographer snapped away looking for that elusive ‘keeper’! Having the morning off school was well worth it for Tom, Tilly and Josh, three of our Junior Squad members, who got to show off their running prowess, leading the way for the others.

Run Maroondah will be held on Sunday 27th September at the H.E Parker Reserve in Heathmont where runners will be able to post a quick time in the 5km or 10km events on a flat, fast course along the Dandy Creek Trail bike/walking track.

The Gen Run Squad will be there on the day, as entrants, supporters and promoters of the event. Come and visit us at our marquee and find out what makes this fast growing recreational running squad the hottest ticket in the Outer East!

Gen Runners Doing Amazing Things

On her 32nd birthday, Hannah vowed to give up her afternoon and ‘Run For Joy’.

She would run 32kms; the furthest she had ever run, and in the process she would raise much needed funds for the Hilltop Foundation’s ‘Jobs For Life’ program which endeavors to: Restore hope and joy to those who have found themselves in the situation of being long-term unemployed.

Because this is just who Hannah is; Constantly reaching out to others, putting others before herself and going beyond the call of duty where-ever possible. As a dedicated wife, mother of four young children and full-time employee of Thankyou, the mind boggles as to when she finds time to even contemplate such things! However, yesterday was testament to her true devotion and she did not only run 32kms, she tacked on another 3 just for fun!!! I was appreciative to be able to give her a high-five as she flew past with her running buddy Scott along the Gardiner’s Creek Trail in Burwood yesterday afternoon, her happy smiling face said it all – Hannah really was ‘Running For Joy’.

Read Hannah’s blog here at: and meet this inspiring Gen Runner, Mizuno Brand Ambassador, 2015 Ausruncon Ambassador and She Science Ambassador at training!
