About Us

Generation Run is a friendly community of runners where like-minded people meet to train casually and run socially together. We are a network of runners who share a common passion and who help eachother to stay motivated, inspired, healthy, active and connected.

*PLEASE NOTE: All Gen Run Squad coached sessions will cease as of 24th December 2021. From this time, all group runs will be of a casual and social nature with coaching and tuition by private appointment only.

Generation Run’s Head Coach Bec Rosel specialises in private and small group tuition for all runners, providing inclusive, supportive, safe, professional and experienced coaching to juniors and seniors of all abilities on private appointment. Bec is highly passionate about active, healthy, and happy lifestyles and loves to share her devotion of running, her expertise and to help connect runners so that they may feel the joy of sharing there passion with others.

At Gen Run; ability, age and experience doesn’t matter; you can just run because you love it! Because that’s why I do it. The Gen Run Squad is a welcoming and fun community where lasting friendships are made, where you can train and run socially, and where you can feel a sense of belonging, comraderie, and kindred-spirit whatever your goals and running ambitions.

Whether you are new to running or a seasoned athlete, YOU are WELCOME at Gen Run.

Meet Our Coaches

Steve and Bec are passionate running coaches and runners, Founders of Generation Run, and the proud owners of  ‘The Running Company Lilydale’.

Running came around for Bec back in 2010 with a run to the milk bar and back (roughly 3km) in a pair of jeans, a raincoat, and an old pair of runners that had never actually been used for running!

An attempt at 27 years of age to perhaps become a runner?! Two knee reconstructions…why not right?!

Running took hold of Bec hook, line, and sinker! Before she knew it, she was running several times a week, extending the duration, running faster, and running further.

Both fell in love with each other (more than ever!) and running so much that they earned their accredited coaching qualifications and in 2015 set up their own running squad in the outer eastern suburbs called “GENERATION RUN”. If you live in the area or even walk around the lake, there’s a fair chance you’ve seen them, with over 150 members in the squad, it’s hard to miss The Gen Run Squad!

For Bec and Steve running is all about enjoying their passion together and sharing their love of running and a healthy and active lifestyle with those around them.

With Steve and Bec both having completed numerous road and trail half, full and ultra-marathons, Bec with over 10 years of coaching experience and Steve having over 10 year’s experience in the footwear industry’s run-specialty space, together in 2019 they launched The Running Company Lilydale to further help people of the Yarra Ranges and beyond to enjoy their running and outdoor activity with their perfect footwear, apparel, and accessories for health, happiness, well-being, and longevity!

Favourite run

  • Bec: The Great Train Race – racing the iconic Puffing Billy Steam-train in the scenic Dandenong Ranges.
  • Steve: Two Bays Trail Run on the stunning coastal trails between Cape Schanck and Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula.

Best running moment

  • Bec: Ending a long run at the beautiful township of Warburton, then plunging into the crystal clear icy waters of the Yarra River.
  • Steve: Running in random locations around the world. Top of the list – Round Rarotonga Road Race – 31kms around the largest of the Cook Islands in tropical paradise.

What do you love about running?

  • Bec: It makes me feel like me. It brings me comfort, it challenges me, it teaches me, and it makes me a better version of myself.
  • Steve: The challenge, the community, the camaraderie, and that elation of reaching a goal.

Running has taken us to witness spectacular places, to befriend the most beautiful people, to discover wonderful things about ourselves and each-other, and to continually bring joy and happiness to our lives. Sharing this gift has always been extremely important to us, and through coaching our recreational running squad – ‘Generation Run’, we have come to find that the joy of running is so much more than the physical aspect of putting one foot in front of the other; Rather, the greater power, seems to lie in its miraculous and proven benefits to mind and soul.

The creation of The Running Company Lilydale has been so many years in the making. Truly a labour of love, passion, and a test of our dedication and perseverance. The universe has made us wait until the perfect time, and now, we are ready to bring the people of the Yarra Valley, the Yarra Ranges, and beyond the most ‘special’ of specialty running stores.

January 2019 saw us open the doors to a welcoming hub for the running community and we are so very excited to extend our passion, experience, and quality service to you all.

We are open Monday to Friday from 10am – 5:30pm and Saturday from 10am – 4pm

On Sundays we RUN!!!
